Update: Man found dead at a Macon residence identified. Sheriff’s office investigating

A man was found dead early Tuesday morning behind a home on Andrews Drive, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they arrived to the home and found a man, identified as 51-year-old Macon resident David Maynard Morris Jr, behind the residence. He had a gunshot wound and was unresponsive.

Morris was pronounced dead on scene by Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.

No one else was reported injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators were working to determine what led up to the shooting. Additional information was expected to be provided as it becomes available.
