Authorities probe Sparta double homicide

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are investigating a double homicide that took place Sunday night in Sparta, officials said.

GBI Special Agent Tom Davis said two people were shot to death at their residence on Tommie Lane in Sparta between 9 and 9:30 p.m. A third person in the house called 911.

Davis identified the victims as Darryl Scott, 33, and Vedria Deshay Greene, 31.

Davis said officials are still in the early stages of the investigation. He declined to say if there is a suspect or a motive in the shootings.
