Bibb County sheriff trying to learn circumstances surrounding man shot in Macon
A man was shot Monday evening in Macon, and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what happened.
At approximately 7 p.m. a call was made to the E-911 Dispatch Center reporting shots fired on Ell Street.
Upon arrival, deputies found a male, 39, suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the wounded man to Atrium Health Navicent for medical treatment. He is listed in critical condition, according to authorities.
No one else was injured during this incident.
Investigators are working to determine what led up to the incident. It was not immediately known whether the man got into an altercation with someone, or it was a random shooting.
The victim’s identity was not immediately released.
Deputies said the information provided is preliminary and could change as the investigation progresses.
