Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a killing on Jan. 14 in what was Macon’s first homicide of 2024.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators, with the assistance of the sheriff’s Gang Unit and Special Response Team, or SWAT, arrested 24-year-old Dequavia Pollard and 25-year-old Amore Calhoun in the shooting death of Clifford Tyrone Browner, 42. Browner was shot in the 1000 block of Triple Hill Drive just off Houston Avenue near Interstate 75 in south Macon.

Pollard and Calhoun were taken into custody without incident Friday evening and transported to the Bibb County Jail where they are being held without bond. Both men were charged with murder and criminal street gang activity.

Browner had multiple gunshot wounds when deputies arrived at the scene after a 911 call reported the shooting at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14. Browner was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. No one else was injured in the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.

Details about what led up to the shooting, or who else may have been involved were not immediately released. The death is still under investigation.
