A father found his two sons dead in a Macon home Sunday afternoon in what could be a drug overdose case, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Edward Patterson Jr., 50, and Christopher Patterson, 46, were found dead just before 5 p.m. Sunday in a duplex at 1136 Birch St. just off Napier Avenue near Central High School in Macon, Jones said.

The father of the two men got a call Sunday recommending he check on his sons, according to Jones. The caller told the father that the two men had not moved for a long time.

When Patterson Sr. went to the Birch Street home to check on his sons, he found them both dead on two couches in the duplex, Jones said.

Jones suspects an overdose caused the deaths and said the GBI will perform an autopsy that’s expected to come back Wednesday. He said the two men could have been dead for as long as a day before they were found.

Family members were at the duplex when Jones arrived and declared the brothers dead, he said. Jones also mentioned the cleanliness of the apartment, noting that the furniture and living spaces were orderly.
