Police found a man dead from an accidental gunshot wound in his car in west Macon early Monday morning, according to Bibb County coroner Leon Jones.

Deputies responded to a call about a person shot and found the man dead at the wheel just after 6 a.m. at the corner of Mercer University Drive and Log Cabin Drive, Jones said.

Jones said the man shot himself on accident. His name was not yet available Monday morning and the scene was still under investigation.

This is a developing story. The Telegraph will add details as they become available.
