Travis Myrick is currently being held at the Baldwin County jail on animal cruelty charges after the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office seized 25 pit bulls while responding to 108 Second St. for an unrelated warrant service attempt.

Police arrested a Milledgeville man Monday for animal cruelty after they seized 25 pit bull terriers they found injured and neglected, according to a statement from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Travis Antwan Myrick, 42, for obstruction and animal cruelty after they went to a house at 108 Second St. in Milledgeville west of Irwinton Road for a different arrest warrant, the statement said.

When deputies arrived they found several dogs in kennels in a closed building with no air circulation, according to the sheriff’s office. The dogs had injuries and showed serious signs of neglect, the statement said.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the house and inside found more dogs in plastic carriers, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office held Myrick at the Baldwin County Jail for the charges and anticipates more charges against him as they investigate, the statement said.
