Macon man critically injured in fight Saturday dies in local hospital, authorities say

A Macon man who was injured during a fight Saturday afternoon died Sunday evening, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Jeffery Giddens, 56, was at his home on Village Green Drive in southwestern Bibb County when he got into a verbal argument with an unknown man, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release. The two men fought, and Giddens was hit on the head. He fell to the ground and the other man fled, the release read.

Giddens was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and died the following evening. His next of kin has been notified, the coroner said.

Sheriff’s investigators are looking for the man who fatally wounded Giddens. Anyone with information in reference to this incident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 1-478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
