Macon man, 64, dies after being struck by ‘unknown vehicle’ on Pio Nono Avenue

A 64-year-old Macon man struck by a hit-and-run driver while he was walking along Pio Nono Avenue on Sunday night died Tuesday at a local hospital, officials said.

The man, Emanuel Jones, was seriously injured shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by what Bibb County sheriff’s deputies described in a statement as “an unknown vehicle that fled the scene” about a block south of Vineville Avenue.

Jones death was said to be the county’s 13th pedestrian death of 2022.
