Suspect still sought in fatal shooting of boy, 16, who is 12th Macon teen slain this year

A 16-year-old Macon boy who was shot and critically wounded shortly before midnight on Sept. 13 died of his injuries on Sept. 16 at a city hospital.

The victim, identified as I’ming Trevon Jackson, was found mortally wounded and “unresponsive” last Tuesday night on Hollingsworth Road, according to a Bibb County sheriff’s statement.

The area where Jackson was shot lies just north of Log Cabin Drive, roughly half a mile west of Napier Avenue.

“The events leading up to the incident” were not immediately clear, the sheriff’s statement said. There was also said to have been “no information on the suspect.”

Jackson’s death was the county’s 52nd homicide of 2022. (There were a record-high 54 homicides here last year.) He was the 12th teenager slain here this year.
