Macon pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver late Saturday evening

A Macon man was struck and killed while crossing Pio Nono Avenue late Saturday evening.

Nathaniel Poole, 61, was in the northbound lanes in the 2800 block of Pio Nono Avenue when he was struck by someone driving a white car who did not stop, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Bibb County Deputy Coroner Luann Stone pronounced Poole dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the collision, looking for a white car with extensive front end damage. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
