Victims ID’d: Couple dead in murder-suicide at west Macon motel, Bibb coroner says

A man and woman found shot to death Wednesday afternoon in a room at a west Macon budget motel were believed to be the victims of a murder-suicide, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

The circumstances of their deaths were not fully known, Jones said, but it appeared the man shot the woman and then shot himself. It was not clear when the shootings occurred.

The victims, who had been dead for several hours, were identified Wednesday night as Tammy Calhoun, 44, of Macon, and Michael Reid, 46, of Merced, California, the coroner said.

Their bodies were discovered shortly after 2 p.m. at the OYO Hotel, which sits behind a Burger King near the intersection of Eisenhower Parkway and Romeiser Road, just west of Interstate 475.
