Two Eatonton residents killed in Putnam County crash Sunday evening

Two Eatonton residents were killed in a car crash in Putnam County Sunday evening.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by Russell Denham, 53, of Eatonton, rear-ended a 2000 Honda Accord driven by Jose Choc Tzi on Madison Road at about 6:30 p.m.

Tzi was stopped, waiting to turn onto Union Chapel Road with passengers Marcelino Tzalam, 34 and Candelaria Ich, 48.

Ich was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tzalam died after being transported to a Madison hospital.

Denham and Tzi were transported to Putnam General Hospital in Eatonton with what were reported to be non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck remains under investigation at the time and they are planning on filing charges.
