Macon toddler in critical condition after being shot while riding in car Friday night

A 3-year-old child was shot late Friday evening while riding in a car in northwest Macon and is in critical condition at a local hospital.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was driving in a Lexus on West Napier Avenue near Mumford Road around 10 p.m. when someone fired multiple shots, striking her 3-year-old child once in the chest. The child was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

No one else was injured. There is no information on the suspect, and neither the mother or child’s identity has been released.
