Macon man, 72, killed in crash while walking down off-ramp Monday morning

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on an interstate in Macon on Monday morning.

Larry Glynn Hudson, 72, was struck by a pick-up truck on Interstate-75 and was transported to Navicent Health with blunt force trauma, according to Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

Hudson, of Macon, was pronounced dead at 8:06 a.m.

A white Chevy Silverado driven by a 53-year-old male from Kathleen hit Hudson on the I-75 northbound off-ramp to Mercer University Drive, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Hudson was reportedly walking south on the off-ramp when he stepped into traffic.

Hudson’s death marks the third pedestrian fatality in Macon in September, Jones said.

Although the fatality blocked traffic on the off-ramp, the Georgia Department of Transportation estimated the incident would be cleared by 9 a.m., according to a Twitter post from GDOT.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or call the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
