Woman shot, killed early Wednesday on Montpelier Avenue in Macon

A 28-year-old woman was fatally shot in Macon early Wednesday.

Nadia Symone Andrews was transported to the hospital after she was injured during a shooting in the parking lot of the M&M Grocery store at 2760 Montpelier Ave, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release.

“She was sitting in the car with her boyfriend,” said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. “Her car was fired on multiple times.”

Andrews’ boyfriend was not shot during the incident, Jones said.

“He got hurt from shattered glass,” but he’s OK, Jones said.

The incident was reported to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 12:51 a.m. Andrews was pronounced dead at the hospital around 1:43 a.m.

Andrews was the mother of a 4 year old and a 3 year old.

Andrews’ death marks the 33rd homicide in Macon in 2020 if a vehicular homicide that killed a 14-year-old and the death of a pregnant woman whose unborn child also died in the shooting are included, according to the coroner’s office.

Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting by gathering evidence and speaking to potential witnesses, according to the release.
