Woman in Motel 6 stairwell choked with purse strap and robbed, Warner Robins cops say

A woman at a Motel 6 in Warner Robins was attacked by a gunman in a stairwell and choked with her purse strap Tuesday night, police said.

The bandit in the 8:50 p.m. episode at the 1440 Watson Blvd. motel was also said to have struck the 35-year-old victim in her face before taking off with her purse.

A statement from city police on Wednesday morning did not identify the victim but it noted that witnesses told the cops what the suspect’s getaway car looked like and gave them its license plate number.

The car was said to have been found later a couple of miles away off North Houston Road, east of Peavy Park on Jackie Boulevard.

It was there that the suspect, a 28-year-old Warner Robins man named Alexander Terell Slater, ran away only to be caught nearby, the police said.

“Slater had in his possession marijuana (and) methamphetamines,” the police statement noted, adding that Slater also had a gun.

Slater was jailed on charges that include armed robbery, battery, drug possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In early 2012, Slater was sent to prison in connection with a 2009 case in which he was convicted of theft and drug-distribution charges.

He was released from prison last August.
