NFL player from Middle Georgia jailed briefly in Perry on marijuana-possession charge
Montravius Adams, a defensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers, was arrested and jailed on a marijuana-possession charge Tuesday evening after he was pulled over on Interstate 75 below Perry, according to a Houston County sheriff’s report.
Adams, 24, who played high school football at Dooly County High in Vienna and college ball at Auburn University, was headed south on the freeway about 6 p.m. Tuesday when a Houston sheriff’s deputy pulled him over.
An incident report doesn’t mention what kind of automobile Adams was driving, just that he was stopped for “suspended registration and no insurance.”
The report goes on to note that “during the stop, the odor of marijuana was detected” and that a search of the vehicle “led to the finding of an amount of marijuana less than an ounce.”
In a booking report, the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Adams, of a Cordele address, is listed as unemployed, though his name appears on an active roster on the Packers’ official website.
He was taken to the county lockup about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and released after posting $2,964 bond just after 10 p.m.
Adams has been a starter in three games and tallied a total of 30 tackles in three seasons after being drafted 93rd overall.
