Warner Robins shooting suspect crashes in Macon after high-speed chase
A fleeing suspect in a shooting in Warner Robins crashed a vehicle in Macon after a high-speed chase early Thursday, police said.
The crash was in the 4500 block of Pio Nono near Cars R Us. The road had been blocked off between Guy Paine Road and Houston Avenue.
According to a Warner Robins police news release, here’s what happened:
At 8:06 a.m., police were dispatched to a shooting of 27-year-old Derrion Pringle in the stomach and leg at 218 Stevens Street. Pringle was hospitalized late Thursday afternoon at the Medical Center, Navicent Health.
Police issued a description of the shooter, later identified as Douglas Edwin Ingram, 25, of Macon, and a silver 4-door Honda Accord they believed he was driving. The car was spotted at Northside Drive at Elberta Road and a police pursuit ensued when the suspect failed to pull over.
The chase went down to Elberta Road to north Ga. 247, onto Broadway, through a parking lot and then north on Pio Nono. Ingram crashed into a Ford Explorer.
Speeds reach 90 miles per hour on Ga. 247, according to Warner Robins Police Chief John Wagner.
Ingram was taken into custody and then to the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. The driver of the Ford Explorer was not hurt.
Marijuana and two handguns were found in Ingram’s car. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash, according to the release.
