27-year-old man in critical condition after officer-involved shooting in Forsyth

A man is in critical condition after a chase ended in an officer-involved shooting in Forsyth on Saturday night, authorities say.

27-year-old Deon Bowden led authorities on a chase following a domestic dispute at 23 Clearview Avenue in Forsyth. Bowden crashed his car on Blount Street into multiple vehicles including two Monroe County patrol cars. Bowden pulled out a pistol and was shot multiple times by officers. The pistol was found in the car.

Bowden received treatment on the scene before being transferred to Navicent Medical Center where he is in critical condition. No officers were injured in the altercation.

An investigation has been launched by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at the request of the Forsyth Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
