Couple arrested in deadly Crawford County dog attack involving two pit bulls

A pair has been arrested in connection with the death of a 76-year-old man who was killed in a dog attack last month, the Crawford County sheriff said Tuesday.

Samuel Arthur Brown, 55, and Angel Ann Brown, 52, were arrested on involuntary manslaughter charges after Lee Alvin Becham, whose body was discovered Feb. 23 outside his residence in the 1900 block of Marshall Mill Road south of Lizella, was believed to be killed by three dogs owned by the Browns, according to a release from Sheriff Lewis Walker.

A previous release stated that the autopsy revealed traumatic injuries due to a dog attack. The three dogs suspected in the attack were removed from the Browns’ care. Walker said that it was a pair of pit bulls and a Labrador retriever mix.

The sheriff told The Telegraph in a previous interview that it was tough for a family to lose a loved one this way.

The pair are awaiting a first appearance in court.
