‘Bite marks’ visible on body of man found dead in Crawford County, cops say

Authorities in Crawford County are investigating the discovery of a 76-year-old man’s dead body in his yard on Sunday evening.

The man, Lee Alvin Becham, was found dead shortly after 5 p.m. outside his residence in the 1900 block of Marshall Mill Road, Sheriff Lewis Walker said in statement Monday.

Walker said sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Becham’s house after receiving a call “about a person laying in his yard unresponsive,” the statement noted.

“Becham was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Kenneth Winslett,” the statement said. “There were signs of bite marks to Becham’s body. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.”

The sheriff said more details in the case would be forthcoming.

The area where Becham’s body was found lies south of Lizella in eastern Crawford County.
