Woman hurls hot grease on ex-boyfriend for ‘talking to another female,’ Macon cops say

A west Macon man suffered burns to his face and body Monday night when a woman he described as a neighbor and former girlfriend allegedly threw a pot of hot grease on him, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies said.

The man, 58-year-old Darryl Lee Releford, was said to have suffered second-degree burns on his lip, eyebrow and torso, deputies noted in a report of the 8 p.m. incident at Windy Hill Manor Apartments, 4151 Log Cabin Drive.

Releford told the cop who answered a call about a domestic dispute that his ex-girlfriend, Joyce Ann Styles, had “told him to come to her apartment,” the officer’s write-up said.

“When he got to her apartment, she threw a pot of hot grease on him,” according to the report. “He stated that (the) suspect was mad at him for talking to another female.”

Styles, meanwhile, told the deputy that Releford “would not (leave) her alone,” the report stated.

She was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and was being held Wesdesday in the Bibb County Jail on $390 bond.
