Youth Detention Center cleared after bomb threat

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a bomb threat at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center on Thursday afternoon.

The caller said he was going to “blow the place up,” according to a news release.

After the building was cleared about 1:45 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Unit searched the building and determined there were no explosive devices, according to the release.

People were allowed to re-enter the building around 4:30 p.m., and Bibb County investigators are working to identify the caller.
