Mom escorts 17-year-old wanted in two crimes to Bibb sheriff’s office

A 17-year-old suspect connected to two robbery and motor vehicle hijacking cases surrendered to Bibb County Sheriff Office deputies after his mother escorted him to the sheriff’s office.

Truvon Sharay Humphrey, of Macon, surrendered to Bibb County Sheriff Office deputies on Dec. 27 at around 4 p.m., according to a news release.

Humphrey has been charged with one count of robbery and two counts of hijacking a motor vehicle, and he is being held without bond, according to the release.

Police said Humphrey approached a man on Dec. 17 on Daffodil Street with a firearm, demanded money and drove off in the man’s vehicle, according to the release.

Humphrey is accused of committing a similar crime at Vineville Christian Towers on Dec. 24. He approached a woman getting out of her car, demanded her purse and car keys and drove away in the vehicle, a 2016 Nissan Rogue, according to the release.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office sent out a news release on Dec. 27 asking for the public’s help in locating Humphrey after investigators believed he was a suspect in the two incidents, and was armed and dangerous.

On the same day, investigators contacted Humphrey’s mother to have him safely surrender to Bibb County officials. About 4 p.m. she brought him in to the sheriff’s department.

Anyone with information about these incidents should contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at (478) 751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at (478) 742-2330.
