Man on the run after pair of attempted armed robberies at Macon Subway stores

A pair of Macon Subway locations were the target of an armed robber Friday night, according to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after 7 p.m. a man entered the Subway at 4108 Pio Nono Ave., with a handgun and demanded money from a worker. The Subway worker sprayed pepper juice in the robber’s eyes, causing the man to flee the store and get into a white sedan. He did not take anything, police said.

Less than two hours later, a man with a handgun entered the Subway at 4319 Hartley Bridge Rd. and demanded money from the Subway clerk. He stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled the store on foot, police said.

Investigators determined the same man attempted to rob both locations. No one was hurt in either incident, according to the release.

The suspect is described as a man with long dreads dressed in dark clothing and a mask over his face.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or call the Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
