Arrest made after man shot in the face outside of Warner Robins liquor store
A 24-year-old man was arrested Friday in the shooting in the parking lot of Rocky Mountain Liquors on Watson Boulevard last week.
Akeel Zamor was being held in the Houston County jail on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, jail records show.
Zamor was arrested without incident on Carter Circle by U.S. marshals with the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Houston County sheriff’s deputies, according to a Warner Robins police news release.
Zamor is accused of shooting Christian Jamal Searcy, 26, of Macon, in the face over drugs Dec. 12, according to Warner Robins police Capt. Chris Rooks.
Searcy was stuck by a bullet in the cheek, Rooks said.
Officers responded to the scene at 1500 Watson Blvd. and found the victim’s BMW with its windows shot out, found drug paraphernalia and smelled the odor of drugs, Rooks said.
“There was a lot of people driving by,” Rooks said. “Watson Boulevard was pretty busy ... There were so many people around — driving up and down Watson Boulevard and you’ve got the Waffle House, the Conoco ... a lot of businesses there were open.
“We just ask that if anybody saw anything at all, just please let us know,” he said.
Second shooting
The incident was the second drug-related shooting in Warner Robins that week.
A 17-year-old was shot in the abdomen at Andy’s Food Mart at 1101 North Houston Road at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 10.
The shootings were not related, Rooks said.
In the Dec. 10 shooting, Bryant Alexander Poole, 28, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
Poole was convicted in Peach County of theft by receiving stolen property and was released from prison in March of last year, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections website.
Gabrielle Hodges, 21, was charged with party to the crime of armed robbery.
“They met in the parking lot ... to exchange drugs and that’s when the shooting happened,” Rooks said.
The victim, who underwent surgery, is expected to recover, Rooks said.
Anyone with additional information about Thursday night’s shooting is asked to contact Warner Robins police Detective Karmen Thompson at 478-302-5380, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
