Gunmen rob Macon fast food restaurant in evening darkness after daylight saving ends

Gunmen took advantage of early darkness as they robbed an east Macon fast food restaurant on the first night after the end of daylight saving.

At about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, two men with their faces covered pulled guns at the Hardee’s at 1014 Gray Highway, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

They demanded money and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash as they ran toward Clinton Road at the back of the building.

The robbers are described as black males — one appearing to be in his late teens to early twenties who was wearing a red bandana over his face, a black, hooded sweatshirt over blue jeans and black shoes.

The second gunman was dressed in all black with a black shirt over his face.

At about 11 p.m. Saturday, police caught another armed robbery suspect who apparently shot himself during the robbery at the McDonald’s at 550 Gray Highway, which is about a half-mile from the Hardee’s.

Donte Sherrod Grayer, 26, of Macon, was found with a gunshot wound in his left thigh.

He was in stable condition at Medical Center, Navicent Health, and will be booked at the jail when he is released.

Anyone with information about the holdup is urged to call for investigator at 478-751-7500 or phone anonymous tips to Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
