Second teen charged with murder in shooting of 16-year-old in east Macon
A 16-year-old boy became Bibb County’s 34th homicide victim of 2018 as bullets flew in east Macon Tuesday night.
At 12:07 a.m. Wednesday, Kendrick Davis was pronounced dead of multiple gunshot wounds in the emergency room of the Medical Center, Navicent Health, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.
Just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, Davis was found lying in the road at the corner of Warpath and Manson roads, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
About two dozen dots of fresh orange paint marked the pavement where Bibb County sheriff’s crime scene units recovered evidence.
An elderly nearby neighbor said he and his wife heard about a dozen gunshots and called the police.
The teen was walking down Warpath Road when shots were fired from a dark colored vehicle, the news release stated. The car left the scene before Bibb County sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Jamon Deshon Jackson, 18, of Macon was jailed early Wednesday on a charge of murder in connection with the shooting and was being held without bond at the Bibb County Detention Center.
Troy Jackson, 16, was also charged with murder in Davis’ killing, according to an updated news release.
Troy Jackson was taken to a Regional Youth Detention Center.
Jamon Deshon Jackson and Troy Jackson are cousins, Bibb County sheriff’s Sgt. Linda Howard said in an email.
Jackson and others went to the intersection of Mason Road and Warpath Road and got into a gunfight with another group — which resulted in Davis’ death, according to an arrest warrant issued for Jackson.
Jackson and the others went to the Lake Arrowhead neighborhood in a navy blue Nissan Maxima owned by a relative, the warrant said.
No one else was hit by the gunfire.
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is urged to call for a sheriff’s investigator at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
