Macon man wounded as gunmen fire shotgun while carjacking his father’s vehicle
A Macon man was hit by shotgun fire during a carjacking Sunday night.
At about 9 p.m. Sunday, Herbert Dudley Sr. , 74, was confronted by gunmen as he arrived as his son’s house in the 1100 block of Radio Drive, about a block southwest of Napier Ave., according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Two black males in their late teens to early 20s tried to pull Dudley out of his 2006 Toyota Avalon when Herbert Dudley Jr., 50, stepped outside to see what was going on.
One of the men fired a shotgun toward the house, hitting Dudley Jr. around the face with bird shot.
The younger Dudley fired back at the men as they took the Avalon, hit a tree and sped off toward Napier Avenue, the release stated.
Both Dudleys were taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health, where they were treated and released. The elder Dudley hurt his elbow scuffling with the robbers.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, Bibb sheriffs deputies found the tan Avalon abandoned behind a vacant house at 303 Blue Bell Street, off Blossom Avenue.
Anyone with information about the carjacking is urged to call for a sheriff’s investigator at 478-751-7500 or phone anonymous tips to Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
