Possible gun play lands two teens in the hospital in shooting at Macon housing project
Bibb County sheriff's deputies, firefighters and paramedics converged on a Macon housing complex after a report of two people shot.
A call went out at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday that there were two male shooting victims at Pendleton Homes at 3401 Houston Ave. The victims were both 16.
Deputies and investigators fanned out through the neighborhood of long brick duplexes trying to determine what happened as the wounded were being treated in ambulances.
Dozens of neighbors stood in the yards as emergency vehicles lined the main street.
Investigators quickly determined the shooting was believed to be accidental, Sgt. Linda Howard said.
"One was shot in the hand. One was shot in the hip," Howard said. "It appears that someone may have possibly been playing with a firearm, and it discharged."
