Man charged in motel stabbing threatened victim's life, police said
A man was stabbed several times in the arm at Magnolia Court Motel in south Macon late afternoon Wednesday.
Bibb County sheriff's deputies were called out to room 35 of the Houston Avenue motel about 3:15 p.m.
Outside, they found 58-year-old Danny Chambers, bleeding from his left arm, according to a news release from the sheriff's office Wednesday evening.
Witnesses told investigators that Chambers was sitting in a chair outside the motel when Artis Marshall walked up behind him holding a knife "and started cutting" Chambers, the news release said.
The 21-year-old, charged with aggravated assault, was convinced Chambers had touched his girlfriend's buttocks sometime Monday, the news release said.
So, Marshall went to his room, grabbed a knife, walked back outside and said "I'm going to kill him," according to the news release.
Chambers was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where his wounds were treated. Marshall had not been booked at the Bibb County jail as of 6:20 p.m.
Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
