Two Macon businesses robbed Friday night

Two Macon businesses were victims of armed robberies Friday night. The incidents happened a half hour and about 6 miles apart, but Sgt. Linda Howard with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said they are not related.

The first robbery occurred around 8:45 p.m. at Dollar General on Houston Avenue. The suspect entered the store with a shotgun and demanded money from the clerks, who "ran for safety," according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect fired a shot into the ceiling, took an unknown amount of money from the cash box behind the register, and left out the store's back door. The suspect, a black male around 6 feet tall and stocky build, was wearing a blood hoodie, jeans and mask.

The second incident happened just after 9:15 p.m. at Crazy Game Show Lottery Store on Columbus Road. As an employee entered the store, a male suspect pressed what was believed to be a weapon into the worker's back, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

The suspect made the employee go into the store, demanded money and left with an unknown amount of money. He was wearing dark clothes with a red shirt underneath, gloves and a mask.

No one was injured in either of the armed robberies. Anyone with information should call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
