Store robbery victim ordered to squat, clerk clobbered in the head as gunmen flee

An early morning robbery turned violent Friday as a masked trio of gunmen held up a south Macon store.

Just before 1:45 a.m., three black males wearing masks pulled handguns on workers at the Flash Foods at 4314 Pio Nono Ave. in south Bibb County, according to a Bibb County sheriff's news release.

A clerk was hit in the head with a gun during the stickup where a worker was ordered to squat on the floor as another employee was told to give the men money from the cash register.

As one of the gunmen grabbed the cash, another swiped cigarettes from a shelf.

The robbers, who were wearing black clothing, ran towards Dewey Street.

One of the men also had on a gray hoodie under the darker clothing.

The injured clerk was hit on the right side of her head and was treated by paramedics at the store and released.

She did not go to the hospital.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call for a sheriff's investigator at 478-751-7500 or phone anonymous tips to Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
