Gunman clobbers clerk in convenience store armed robbery

A Macon convenience store clerk was hurt during an armed robbery early Friday.

Just before 1:45 a.m., a gunman hit a Flash Foods worker in the head with the pistol during the holdup at 4314 Pio Nono Ave. in south Bibb County, according to initial reports.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating the robbery, but no further details were immediately available.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call for a sheriff's investigator at 478-751-7500 or phone anonymous tips to Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
