One person killed, another wounded in shooting at apartment complex

The GBI is assisting Cordele police in a fatal shooting that killed one person and wounded another.

Just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to the Suwanee Apartments at 101 S. Seventh Street, according to a Cordele police news release.

Officers found one person dead at the scene, but the other suffered what appeared to be a non-lethal injury.

The victims identities were not immediately released.

"The agents and investigators are diligently working this incident to determine the cause," Chief Rob Rodriguez said. "Although we investigate each death as a homicide, we have to wait and see where the facts and evidence leads us."
