Robbers demanded marijuana, then shot a Macon teen twice, police say

A teen was shot twice outside a vacant apartment in south Macon on Monday night, according to a Tuesday news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Kedrick Young had been wounded in his arm and leg when he met deputies about 8:30 p.m. at the Citgo on Rocky Creek Road near Autumn Trace Apartments.

The 17-year-old said he was standing outside apartment A-1 when three people wearing dark colored hoodies “demanded he give them his marijuana,” the news release said.

Young told the three people he didn’t have anything, then one of them pulled out a gun and shot Young twice, the release said. The person continued shooting at the teen as he ran to the gas station for help.

Young told investigators the would-be robbers didn’t take anything from him. He was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, for treatment.

Later, investigators learned that apartment A-1 was vacant and it appeared no one had been inside.

Young reportedly was uncooperative with investigators when asked for more details about the shooting.

Young is the second person to be shot in questionable circumstances at the apartment this year.

Frannes Finnell, 23, was wounded in the leg Oct. 20 when a barrage of bullets sprayed through the door of an apartment he was visiting, police have said. Finnell had left the scene by the time police arrived and had not checked himself into any hospitals in the area.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
