Argument over stolen car led to a man’s brutal beating at a Macon motel

An argument over a stolen car led to a brutal attack Sunday that left one man in critical condition.

Samuel Sessions had given Corderio Clinkscale what was reportedly a stolen car to drive before the two started arguing Sunday afternoon at America’s Best Inn & Suites on Harrison Road, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

During the argument, Clinkscale allegedly punched 35-year-old Sessions in the face, knocking him to the ground. Sessions hit his head on concrete and was knocked unconscious.

A second man, identified by police as 49-year-old Orlando Wedlowe, hit Sessions in the face while he was knocked out on the ground, the news release said.

Wedlowe ran from the motel before deputies arrived.

Clinkscale, 28, was arrested at the motel and charged with aggravated assault. He remained in jail Tuesday night after being denied bond.

Sessions is in the Neurointensive Care Unit at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, according to hospital patient information. The sheriff’s office said his condition was serious Monday night.

Wedlowe and Sessions had both served time at Georgia State Prison in recent years, but authorities have not said whether they knew each other.

Sessions was released in February 2014 after serving time for a 2005 personal armed robbery that occurred at the old Bank of America ATM on Third Street, where Telegraph business offices are now located.

Wedlowe, who also goes by the nickname “Tick,” according to the Georgia Department of Correction’s website, is wanted by the sheriff’s office on a charge of aggravated assault.

Wedlowe has a lengthy criminal history that dates back to 1985 and includes charges such as possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, entering auto, theft by receiving and credit card fraud. He was most recently released from Georgia State Prison in June 2016, according to the department of corrections.

Anyone with information regarding Wedlowe’s whereabouts is urged to call the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
