Macon teen shot in the neck is in critical condition
A young woman shot in the neck inside an apartment complex in west Macon on Tuesday is in critical condition at a local hospital.
Bibb County sheriff’s Sgt. Linda Howard said the woman was inside building 209 at Cherry Blossom Hill Estates when she was shot. Howard could not say whether the wound was self-inflicted, but investigators who work violent crimes were among officers corralled around the crime scene tape.
Howard said an infant and an adult male also were inside at the time of the 4 p.m. shooting.
The apartment complex, once named Villa West, is located on Mercer University Drive across the street from Macon Memorial Gardens.
A woman who lives in the building across from 209 said a young couple had moved in the apartment a couple months ago. A young man was taken from the apartment and put in the back of a patrol car, but he was not wearing handcuffs.
The woman was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health for treatment.
