Man killed in east Macon shooting
A man was shot to death in east Macon just before noon Friday.
Jonathan Demarcus Risby, 24, died from multiple gunshot wounds, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said. He was pronounced dead at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, about 11:50 a.m.
A 39-year-old woman with him also was shot in the foot. Jones described Tanvonya Smith’s wound as minor.
Plastic yellow cards in the crime scene tape marked at least five spots where shell casings or bullets were found along Fairview Avenue and Appleton Street near the Ocmulgee National Monument.
Bibb County sheriff’s Lt. Randy Gonzalez said the pair was shot in the 200 block of Fairview Avenue but ran to 823 Applewood St.
A group of women who live in a house at the corner of Fairview Avenue and Applewood Street said they went outside to see about the commotion. From their front porch, they told a reporter they could see Risby collapsed near a tan car parked in a driveway.
Other neighbors refused to talk with reporters.
Risby would have turned 25 next month.
His death makes the 27th killing in Macon this year.
