Man wounded in shooting at north Macon motel
Shots rang out early Thursday at a north Macon motel off Riverside Drive near Tom Hill Sr. Blvd.
At about 4:30 a.m., Macon-Bibb E911 received multiple calls about shots fired on Riverside Parkway.
A man also called from the nearby Walthall saying he had been shot at the motel and fled to the gas station at the busy corner near the Arkwright Road exit of Interstate 75.
An ambulance met the man in the convenience store parking lot and he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Bibb County sheriff’s deputies responded to the newly renamed FairBridge Inn Express in the old Travelodge location across from Hooters.
Officers roped off the parking lot and put down pieces of white paper where shell casings covered the ground in the motel parking lot.
Witnesses said shots were fired in the parking lot and a vehicle left the scene.
No further information was immediately available.
