A 16-year-old was shot Friday night while walking behind a vacant fast food restaurant in south Macon.

Kyle Finney told Bibb County sheriff’s deputies that he heard several gunshots when he was on the path behind the old Church’s Chicken at 3860 Houston Ave.

According to a sheriff’s news release, Finney ran when the shooting started and realized he had been shot in the right calf as he came to the end of the path.

He called 911 and an ambulance and sheriff’s deputies met him at the Dollar General at 3716 Houston Ave.

Finney told investigators that he did not see who was firing the shots.

He was in stable condition at Medical Center, Navicent Health.

Anyone with information is urged to call a sheriff’s investigator at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
