Man shot in the head in shooting between drivers

A shooting between drivers ended with one man wounded in the head and the other car on the run.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Friday, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies were called to Robinson Road, off Hollingsworth Road, where Eddie James Harris Jr. had a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

The 23-year-old Harris told investigators he was driving behind a dark gray Ford Fusion just off Log Cabin Drive and they both turned onto Robinson Road, according to a sheriff’s news release.

The Fusion, which had dark tinted windows, pulled off on the right side of the road and when Harris tried to pass, shots were fired into his vehicle.

Harris got out of his car and returned fire and the Fusion driver took off, the release said.

Deputies do not have a description of the shooter.

An ambulance took Harris to the hospital where he was in stable condition. The bullet did not penetrate his skull, the release stated.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the dark gray Ford Fusion is urged to call an investigator at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
