Macon teen says shooter pulled alongside his moving car and opened fire

An 18-year-old Macon man told the police he was shot Thursday evening as he was driving along Edna Place Road on the city’s west side by someone who opened fire from a passing car.

Bibb County sheriff’s officials said the victim, Tavares Roberts Jr., shot in the buttocks, was not critically wounded in the episode, which happened shortly before 6 p.m.

Roberts told investigators that he was driving along Edna near Wilmington Place, a few blocks north of Mercer University Drive, when someone in another car wheeled up beside him and, for no apparent reason, started shooting.
