Mathis, who is believed to be related to Young, is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds and could be carrying a gun.

An arrest warrant has been signed charging Mathis with felony murder.

Just before 10 a.m. Monday, Young was fatally wounded in the head while he and an accomplice burglarized a house in east Bibb County off Millerfield Road.

The woman who lives there heard the doorbell ring, then the sound of the front door being kicked in.

When she confronted the pair of burglars, Young dropped a big screen TV and began to run away with his partner, whom deputies identified as Mathis.

On the way out, Mathis allegedly fired a shot back at the house and hit Young, who has a criminal history that includes burglary and theft.

Anyone who has information about Mathis’ whereabouts is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
