He was shot in the neck last year. Now he faces a possible prison sentence
In October, 23-year-old Estee Tharpe III was shot in the neck and dropped off at a Macon hospital.
An indictment returned by Bibb County grand jurors on Tuesday, charges him and three other men with reckless conduct in connection with the Oct. 26 shooting. The indictment names Tharpe, 24-year-old Adrian Lovell Brown Jr., 22-year-old Antrayous K. Middlebrooks and 18-year-old Twayne Jafar Rainey Jr.
The four also are charged with violating the state’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, according to the indictment.
Arrest warrants filed in the case allege Tharpe — an alleged Gangster Disciples gang member — went to English Village Apartments, 2350 English Avenue, with other Gangster Disciples and Crips street gang members and tried to conduct an armed robbery during a possible drug deal.
Gunfire was exchanged during the botched robbery and Tharpe was shot, according to the warrants.
“Numerous” shell casings and bullet fragments were found scattered on the ground, according to the warrants.
Tuesday’s indictment alleges Tharpe, Middlebrooks and Rainey are associated with the Gangster Disciples street gang and Brown is associated with the Crips gang.
