A 20-year-old man accused of shooting a woman in the ankle Thursday night outside a Macon apartment is charged with several counts of aggravated assault.

Rashaad Treyvon Jones reportedly shot Teyanna Faith McCullen about 10:45 p.m. outside of the Summit Apartments on Edna Place, according to a Friday news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

McCullen had gone to her child’s father’s house there at the complex near Log Cabin Drive and Napier Avenue when she got into an argument with his new girlfriend in the parking lot, the release said.

Jones is a friend of McCullen’s child’s father, Cpl. Linda Howard said.

“Somehow he got involved in the altercation ... and he decided he wanted to shoot,” Howard said.

As McCullen was getting in her car to leave, Jones fired several shots with a stolen handgun, striking her in the right ankle, the release said.

Two friends and their children were also in McCullen’s car when shots were fired, but McCullen was the only one injured.

McCullen was taken to a hospital, and Jones was arrested at the apartments.

Jones, of Alview Drive, is charged with six counts of aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the release said. He is being held in the Bibb County jail without bond.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
