Since 2011, the Warner Robins Civitan Club has conducted a weekly gun raffle, and the next one is starting this week.
Members of the club are selling raffle tickets for the club’s 52 Gun Raffle. Each of the next 52 weeks, a winner will be chosen using the Georgia Lottery Saturday Mid-Day Cash 3 drawing.
Tickets are for sale for $52 each and are available from club members. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.
To win, a player must match his or her number in exact order to those drawn by the Georgia Lottery. Tickets are not removed after winning, so there is the chance of winning more than once. Every year that the Civitans have conducted the 52 Gun raffle, someone has won more than twice in the year. Each quarter during the year, a more expensive gun is drawn for — with a value ranging between $1,200-$1,400. The average price of the guns the other weeks is $450. Most weeks, the prize is a gun but there are other prizes during the 52 weeks, including a Big Green Egg grill and a Yeti cooler.
The ticket owner must have proof of identification, be 18 or older, be a United States resident and be capable of passing the required background checks.
A complete list of the guns and prizes that will be raffled the next 52 weeks is available on the Warner Robins Civitan Facebook page. You can also view the list at www.warnerrobinscivitan.weebly.com.
The money raised is spent on many club projects, from scholarships to local high school students to the club’s main focus — helping citizens with developmental delays. One recent project was installing playground equipment for special needs children at Fountain Park and Briarcliff Park.
