Miss Tiny Houston County Abi Goss, who turned four in March, was crowned Miss Tiny Georgia Forestry Queen this month in Tifton.

Abi currently holds several other titles including Tiny Miss Peach Blossom; Teeny Georgia Sweet Potato Queen and Tiny Miss Forsythia. She also is the reigning Miss Teeny U.S. National Turpentine Queen.

Abi loves pageants, and her favorite part of any pageant is the crowning.

“But it is OK if you don’t win,” said Abi, who often “plays” pageants at home with her family.

“She goes around practicing and introducing the contestants,” said her mother, Chasity.

Chasity said that the pageant experience — especially the forestry pageant system — had been very good for Abi.

“She loves to go see her friends. That is her favorite part of going to the pageants,” Chasity said. “She has met so many nice people. I am shy and quiet, and I wanted her to have the opportunity to be outgoing. Through pageants she has had that chance — meeting people and going on stage.”

As a state queen, Abi will represent the forestry program across the state, including a visit to meet state legislators.

The 77th Miss Georgia Forestry pageant was held over two consecutive weekends June 10-11 and June 17-18. The Georgia Forestry Pageant is the oldest scholarship pageant in the state of Georgia.

Because of the importance of forestry to the state’s economy — timber is Georgia’s number one cash crop — the forestry queens stay busy with appearances and promoting their individual platforms.
