Southeast Little League tournament schedule announced
Little League Southeastern Regional Headquarters opened in Warner Robins in 2009 and oversees 700 leagues from 83 districts representing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
The full-time staff of four people under the direction of Jen Colvin are responsible for the education and training of Little League officials, tournament operations and assisting district and local Little Leagues.
This year tournament action will begin with the girls softball tournament July 28-Aug. 1 followed by the boys baseball tournament from Aug. 5-10. Also, there will be a special Little League Challenger Division Exhibition Game at 11 a.m. July 30. The Warner Robins American Little League will take on Viera/Suntree Little League.
Game times are subject to change, but it’s worth posting the schedule to your refrigerator for easy access. The softball tournament begins with Game 1 at 11 a.m. on July 28, followed by Game 2 at 2 p.m. and Game 3 at 5 p.m. On July 29, Game 4 will be at 11 a.m., Game 5 at 2 p.m. and Game 6 at 5 p.m. On July 30, Game 7 is at 4 p.m. and Game 8 is at 7 p.m. Play on July 31 begins with Game 9 at 12:30 p.m., Game 10 at 3:30 p.m. and Game 11 at 6:30 p.m. Game 12 will be Monday at 10 a.m.
Tournament baseball starts Aug. 5 with Game 1 at 10 a.m., Game 2 at 1 p.m., Game 3 at 4 p.m., and Game 4 at 7 p.m. Games Aug. 6 begin with Game 5 at 10 a.m., Game 6 at 1 p.m., Game 7 at 4 p.m. and Game 8 at 7 p.m. On Aug. 7, Game 9 will be at 1 p.m. and Game 10 at 4 p.m. On Monday,Game 11 at 11am and Game 12 at 7pm. Game 13 will be Tuesday at 3pm, and Game 14 on Wednesday at 3pm.
On Aug. 8, Game 11 will be at 11 a.m. and Game 12 at 7 p.m. Game 13 will be Aug. 9 at 3 p.m., and Game 14 will be Aug. 10 at 3 p.m.
All Southeastern Region Little League Tournament games will be played at the Little League Southeast Park at 439 Snellgrove Drive in Warner Robins. Admission and parking are free.
Volunteers needed
A Community Concessionaries Volunteer Program is offered to organizations, groups or businesses during the tournaments, which gives local entities the opportunity to gain exposure to 16 teams, at least 750 out of town visitors and many local residents. Benefits of the program include on-site recognition, a fun atmosphere in a great event and the opportunity to welcome visitors and showcase the local area. Participation requires finding a group of at least six people, submitting a volunteer application and participating in an orientation.

Independence Day Celebration coming up
More summer family fun is right around the corner on July 1 during the Jeff Smith Automotive Independence Day Celebration featuring the annual fireworks display, which is sponsored by International City Builders. Country star Joe Nichols will perform with special guest singer Colby Dee. Sponsored by Robins Federal Credit Union, the event requires no ticket and admission is free. Festivities begin at 6 p.m., and food will be available for purchase, including snow cones, ice cream, burgers and barbecue.
